And Another Thing …
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK?
Apart from Pilates,(!) walking is one of the best exercises to open up your hips. Pilates trains you to access the range you need to walk more efficiently.
Mobile strong hips help to offload our knee joints and lower back.
Stretching out our hips has an impact on our neck and shoulders, I read somewhere recently we are like a pair of scissors, striding out and opening our hips helps to open our neck and shoulders too. Think about it - we're all joined up. So, tight hips can also mean tight neck and shoulders. Is that you??
Drive yourself up a hill rather than falling into it. Use those calf muscles which are like a pumping second heart.
Wear shoes that allow your toes to spread and gives width to your feet instead of walking on a closed claw..
Flexible strong feet and ankles reduces strain on your knees.
Use your back or posterior line. These are the muscles behind us that hold us up straight and drive us up another hill! eg the GLUTES!
Glutes, of which there are many, are also attached to the pelvic floor. Efficient working glutes are essential for efficient working pelvic floor.
Head on perch as much as possible.
Our immune systems need all the help they can get, and moderate exercise is a tried and tested method of boosting it. However, if recovering from any illness, take it easy getting back. Be kind to yourself.
Off flip. Shut me up! Once I start. Actually only meant to write ONE thought for the week. Hence the title!!
But ..the human body IS phenomenal...
