Happy Easter!

HAPPY EASTER FROM STUDIO36!
(Remember those olden days when you used to have little easter treats left on your mat or reformer?? Those days will return!!)

  • Bit of catch up chat

  • Easter Holidays

So hard to believe we are a year down the line from our change of existence as we knew it. It’s been an eventful year, so tough for some folks. On a personal positive note though, it has definitely allowed little reflection and forced a change in some long established habits and routines.
Still waiting for powers that be to decide when doors will properly re-open in the studio, but rest assured, IT WILL HAPPEN!

This year I have been teaching Pilates for 22 years! (And many years physio before that!) Which means a fair number of my clients have been attending classes for that length of time too. And certainly, the minor irritation of a global pandemic wasn’t going to stop them. The commitment to continuing online classes has been incredible, although remember when we thought it was going to be short-lived, and rushed back to the real life and the studio eagerly... for a whole 6 weeks!!

There have been various news reports recently suggesting that people are generally exercising less and drinking more.
Re exercise, that's not me, honestly not most of our clients I think, and there are definitely more people out walking the forests and coastal paths. At the minute I am so lucky to be able to book into a number of extra mat and equipment online Body Control Pilates classes and workshops, run from literally all over the world. This has been such a bonus and never ceases to inflate my happiness tyre!!
Now …the drinking…well. You know me, LOVE my G&T!

REMEMBER your body has no idea if you are taking part in a pilates class or doing squats in a kitchen waiting for your egg to boil...even if attending Pilates/exercise classes, MOVEMENT SNACKS are the way to go. Frequent exercises and stretches in your daily routine. Perfect. Make it basic stuff, every time you lower yourself to a chair (loo), get your ankle, knee, hip hinges going and repeat a few times. Hinge in four point kneeling when weeding, climb your stairs, reach for those high cupboards, squat to put your lamb/nut roast in the oven, balance on one leg brushing your teeth, dance when you're hoovering. Or dance when some one else is hoovering!! Even better idea.
You never know the moment when you find yourself scrambling in a field, ankle deep in mud in the pitch dark, searching for a litter of puppies! Thats when your balance and flexibility comes in. True client story..and happy ending- puppies were found and fine!. As was the client...

With teaching, extra classes and doing workshops (just booked into a Menopause course over 8 sessions…can’t wait!), studio36 life has been busy. Easter break is therefore welcome – see reminder to clients below. Going to be even busier for (nearly due) Megan with bambino– no news yet but she's doing well!

What is inflating my happiness tyre right now??

  • TV....LOVED Unforgotten. Yes, it involved a grim headless handless corpse but Nicola Walker is a star.

  • TV...The Syndicate is back!! Bit of fluff and nonsense. Just what we need!

  • TV (see the train of thought??) Keeping Faith is back. Tune in for the music alone, oh, and the scenery. And Faith's very over developed calf muscles..which I can guarantee are massively tight when she removes those gorgeous mega high heels! (unless she does Pilates as well as boxing...) On the TV theme ..if you watched Bloodlands and remember the scene where James Nesbitt went to the Kingspan rugby match...I was there that night and talked to him in the bar! Told him he was great. (Now, a couple of those G&Ts had been consumed at the time)

  • Space Masks.https://www.spacemasks.com With all the screen work, my eyes have been tired and sore. Had been keeping my Space masks for a wee treat since Xmas. Looked in my box of 5 and 2 were left!! The joys of having a thieving daughter!! BUT how gorgeous and it really did its magic. Get them from the fab Deborah Harper of Harper Beauty Helen's Bay http://www.thejoyedit.co.uk/

  • Grape Hyacinths and Drumstick Primulas that I forgot were there from last year. Quelle surprise! Any flower in my garden is a source of joy!!

  • Listening to my son rapping Hamilton lyrics https://hamiltonmusical.com/new-york/home/ in the kitchen..still mildly obsessed with that one!

  • Finding a dress in Jigsaw sale reduced from £150 to £45! It's fab!! Totally over the top dressy. Daughter burst my bubble slightly by suggesting I had nowhere to wear it ...but quite frankly don't care, just looking at it inflates my tyre. It might end up on a trip to Tescos at this rate!!

  • My pink tulips from McKees Farmshop.

  • My Easter tree and bunny - all alone in the studio. Next year...
