Reformer Classes

Welcome to the Pilates Reformer – an amazing piece of apparatus that challenges the body in an exciting new way.

Studio36 has taught reformer classes since 2015 and has witnessed a huge increase in popularity over the years. Studio36 has eight reformers which are in constant use!

From rehabilitation clients, who need the support of the springs to enhance recovery, desk workers who sit too much, or even dancers and athletes, the Reformer is accessible to all.

So what is it?
A Reformer comprises a gliding carriage and a system of springs and ropes, which are adjusted to offer resistance or assistance to a movement. All the exercises can be progressed or regressed to suit the individual being taught. As a client you lie, sit, kneel or stand on the Reformer. The exercise repertoire is virtually limitless, the teacher will constantly vary the exercises in class, all with the aim of improving flexibility, strength, stamina and a more balance posture.

Although if may appear daunting at first when compared with the simplicity (and stability!) of the mat, it is actually an excellent rehabilitation tool and you will experience an awakening of muscles you may never have felt before!

Pricing for Reformer Classes

Classes are booked generally in a block (please contact studio) but current cost works out @£18.50 per class (limit to 7 people per class). Unless a beginner class, new clients to the studio require Reformer experience before joining an ongoing Reformer class. Often a 1:1 session is the ideal way to learn!

How do I start?

The Reformer class is normally limited to 6 people to allow for hands on correction and attention to detail from the instructor.

As a pre-requisite we ask for Matwork experience prior to joining a Reformer class - to ensure basic Pilates principles are established. This allows for a safe transition to the different experience of the moving carriage of the Reformer.

Beginner Reformer workshops are regularily run at the Studio, but to join an ongoing class you may be required to attend 1:1 training in advance. In addition, any private session will often include Reformer work, so this is also a great way to learn to navigate your way around the equipment.

Classes are booked in a block of 10 consecutive sessions, with the opportunity to make up missed classes when there is availability - see T&C’s.
