Gratitude Ramble…
Even with the small issue of extended lockdown, I am going to stick to an optimistic rant. Boy we are going to be SO grateful for that fearless Tesco shopping experience when it eventually arrives!
Got me thinking there are in fact loads of things to be grateful for;
We are more than hanging in there with Pilates classes…for those clients who have kept up the practice, their hips, spines and shoulders will be eternally grateful. Myself, Laura, Megan and Stephanie are flexing our brains each week to come up with Pilates workouts which are varied, physically challenging and also stimulate your coordination and the brain! Aim is to keep the Studio36 clients stretched, strong and mobilised, primed for a return to the real Studio space. And…we get to catch up with who has or hasn’t had the vaccine! Can see that will be a real talking point for a while…!
Most of us totally at one with Zooming…I know it can be frustrating but why did it take a lockdown to discover this amazing way of communication?? Keeping in touch with family and friends who are miles away is way better and easier. Thank goodness the weekly quizzes are old news now. Big reason to celebrate if you have Zoom shares…you’ll be off to the Bahamas as soon as you’re let out…
Grateful for work to get up for in the morning …otherwise my new weighted blanket and very cosy bed would be irresistible until at least mid morning…Actually the weighted blanket was a present to my son, but it’s been a bit of a revelation. Like a big warm hug…(or a Strait Jacket if you get one that’s too heavy!)
My Morphee http://www.morphee.co . Another revelation…listen to meditation etc at night time as don’t want a phone beside my bed. Real retro bit of kit.
LOADS of walks. I am boring everyone with my constant vocalised amazement of how many people are out walking at the moment. Honestly, the coastal paths are like rush hour on an underground. Unbelievable. But most of them beautiful. We are so lucky to live beside the coast and have greenery around us.
Archie’s (7 month pup) wee legs are probably exhausted. Is it weird to be fascinated by his fairly new skill of one leg hitched up peeing…with his external rotation of his hip and rotation of his spine, and the balance that is required for all that??
Having bit more time to do admin?!?
Doing more Pilates, more workshops, learning more and more stuff.
Queen’s Gambit
Staged…anyone else?? So clever.
G&T’s
Calm App http://www.calm.com
Some of the laugh out loud videos etc on WhatsApp. Utterly brilliant. Some woeful. Most fab.
Inauguration of Biden. Apart from the fact that T has left the building, it was just lovely to see a crowd of people together, having fun!
Enough rambling.
On a Pilates note. Weekend homework?
Do your squats.
Hips are responsible for supporting the upper body weight and facilitating movement in the lower body. Maintaining happy hips is crucial, given their essential role in so many human functions. We are inevitably spending more time sitting, and this takes its toll on hip range and strength of hip muscles.
Try to lie on front and do some extension. (Diamond Presses, Cobras, Darts) See reasons above. Too much sitting.
Balance on one leg. Reduces likelihood of falls. Challenges whole body.
Mobilise the spine…Spine Curls, Hip Rolls, Cat, Thread the Needle, Side Stretch. All joyous.
