Inflating your happiness tyres...
On this lovely Friday afternoon I am quietly contemplating the possibility we are about to enter the last few weeks of proper lockdown!? Our seemingly endless narrowing field of vision might potentially start to widen?? Hardly dare say it but...fingers crossed. Will see. Cannot wait to get some very patient clients back into the studio space and even onto some of the equipment... and welcome new ones too!
Just wanted to catch up with you all on my current theme of things to be grateful for...but in good old Norn Iron tradition, things to complain about too!
Another reminder too re Rangan Chatterjee and his regular podcast, Live More http://www.drchatterjee.com I previously mentioned an inspiring interview with Laurie Santos, a Professor of Psychology at Yale University. She described happiness like a ‘leaking tyre’, never in a constant state but needing bursts of input to keep it inflated.
Just thought worth mentioning a few ways I inflated my tyre last week while 'on hols'
Had my vaccination! Stephanie and I able to book in as both physios. Tiny feeling of 'jumping the queue' guilt was overrided by the fact we can hopefully see clients more quickly and safely.
The amazing full stage production of 'Hamilton' on Disney Channel. If you can access it and appreciate a musical it is phenomenal. Just can't get the music out of my head..It's long but well worth it!
Starting another weekly Pilates class with London teacher on the 'Tower'. It's that slightly scary looking piece of kit in the 'wee secret studio room' next to the main studio. Similar to the Cadillac with the fluffy straps! Honestly on Thursday when I did the class it just reinforced (again) that l love Pilates. l love the challenge to my body, appreciate the subtle but strong moves, and I am constantly curious to learn more so can teach better. I realise I’m very lucky to have a passion.
Bought the book 'The Gift' by Edith Eger who wrote 'The Choice'. (Another good podcast episode with Rangan and Edith) OK, I haven't read it all yet, but just love looking at the hard back teal blue cover. (doesn't take much to inflate my tyre some days!!)
Bridgerton on Netflix. Need I say more? Episode every night. As a male friend quite rightly pointed out "its a load of balls...". Yes it is. FABULOUS ones!
Brief excitement at a huge garden bin arriving...followed by realisation that means I need to go into sort garden. See below.
Walking, walking walking…plus Archie the pup, and with my dodgy knee eternally grateful for my Vivos. http://www.vivobarefoot.com. should be on commission for these boys. Remember get 20% off going through Rangan Chatterjee site. http://www.drchatterjee.com Should be on commission there too!! Did I mention that l met him??
Do not want you thinking I'm smugly inflated all week. See big deflates below
Guilt about all the untouched cupboards, drawers, airing cupboards I KNOW everyone else has beautifully sorted..
Deciding what we will have for tea??? Groundhog day...However, can recommend great take out from Kamakura ( http://www.kamakurasushi.co.uk). Bit like Wagamamas, delicious.
Coastal paths like rush hour in London (quick inflate here as remind myself how lucky we are to have coastal paths handy, fair enough)
Looking at my poor dishevelled garden, which needs lots of attention. Always find an excuse to avoid. Mum seems to be constantly gardening. Genes she unfortunately didn't pass on.
Hair roots. Constantly now looking at Archie's swishing natural blond mane with envy. Sure that's not normal.
LOADS of others that won't bore you with but suffice to say MOVEMENT always helps. Even if just a few squats at kitchen sink. Eternally grateful to Pilates for keeping my body going, and hopefully going ...
Have a great weekend,
